Evaluate WolfDocx before you subscribe

WolfDocx Commercial is evaluated on your own workflow before purchase, using public memo files, a workflow-fit check, and a short list of steps from credential to first edit. This page lists each step and what happens at it.

What is available

  • There is no public free WolfDocx package, and there is currently no self-serve WolfDocx evaluation credential.
  • The self-serve evaluation covers WolfXL Commercial. Its credential authorizes the WolfXL package index only and is rejected by the WolfDocx index.
  • WolfDocx is evaluated before purchase with the public memo files and a workflow-fit check by email. After you subscribe, the first install and sample run take a few commands.

Steps

  1. Inspect the memo before and after

Download the input and the updated memo from the reporting walkthrough and open both in your own viewer: memo input and updated memo. The walkthrough lists what was checked on the saved file.

  2. Match your workflow to a supported edit

Read the three task guides: table cells, text replacement, and template rows. The API reference lists every function, parameter, and refusal code, so you can see what the package refuses before you pay for it.

  3. Ask for a workflow-fit check

Send the company, the memo workflow, the approved changes you need, the parts that must stay untouched, and your target platform. The email link below fills in these headings.

  4. Subscribe for your organization

An organization-scoped subscription to WolfDocx Commercial, with package access, updates, and support under the accepted WolfDocx agreement. Read the terms and the refund policy first, and see pricing for current plans. The package credential is issued on the checkout success page after payment. If you lose it, request replacement credentials on the recovery page.

  5. Save the credential and point pip at the WolfDocx index

Save the credential in ~/.netrc on macOS and Linux (run chmod 600 ~/.netrc), or in %USERPROFILE%\_netrc on Windows:

    machine packages.wolfxl.com
login <username shown on the checkout success page>
password <secret shown on the checkout success page>

Then set the index in ~/.config/pip/pip.conf on macOS and Linux, or %APPDATA%\pip\pip.ini on Windows. A WolfXL index line already in that file needs replacing:

    [global]
    index-url = https://packages.wolfxl.com/wolfdocx/simple/

Run the install command shown with your credential on the success page. Keep credentials out of shell history, URLs, and source control, and do not add --extra-index-url. In CI, store the credential in your provider's secret manager. The package metadata declares Python 3.11 or newer.

  6. Run the bundled quickstart

    wolfdocx --version
    wolfdocx quickstart --output-dir wolfdocx-quickstart

The quickstart writes a synthetic baseline and candidate document, a gate policy, and an evidence archive into the output directory, and prints a JSON result whose passed field is true when the check succeeds.

  7. Edit a copy of your own document

Run the sample from the API reference against a copy of your memo. The destination is a new file, and a stale or ambiguous edit is refused with a named code instead of a partial write.

Boundaries

  • No customer platform is qualified. The engine was exercised on macOS arm64 and Linux x86_64 with a CPython 3.13 environment; Windows is unqualified.
  • No public free WolfDocx package is offered. Commercial use is governed by the accepted WolfDocx agreement; preview evidence grants no additional rights.
